kids toys can be fun

I have always loved the old claymation Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer (1964), the one where Burl Ives sings Silver and Gold. Yes, I own my own copy. Watching it on VHS isn't quite as much fun as watching it on TV when I was a kid, where all the commercials seemed geared particularly to me. But it's still fun, nevertheless.

From time to time, I see different kids' toys based on the characters, and plastic be hanged, I want them anyway. Case in point:

2004.10.10.jpg's Santa's Reindeer sleigh team looks like too much fun. The Santa really looks like the Santa from the movie. And I loved that Santa, particularly with Mrs. Claus hounding him all winter long to eat, eat! Nobody likes a skinny Santa.

Santa in the box

Just ran across this Santa-in-a-box on eBay; it's adorable! I don't think I've ever seen a Jack-in-the-box style Santa before. Auction's only good until June 6th, though, so better step on it if you're interested.

(And as always, no, I'm not in any way connected to the seller - I just think it's cute.)

so this is why lotteries exist

I am not a rich woman (yet), so I usually have to limit myself to a couple hundred dollars' worth of Santa investments every year, at the absolute maximum. Usually that means one big piece and a few smaller pieces. Last year, I admittedly went a little crazy. But this year I'm back on budget.

Which means, sadly, that I won't be able to afford my dream piece:

Santa's Desk by Dennis Brown

More's the pity. One day.

Actually, there's a piece I'd like even better, though Dennis Brown swears he'll never do one that complex again. I'll have to see if I can find my Santa Claus Magazine from that year and scan it in.

enormous Santa with lamp

No, seriously, I want this thing so bad my teeth ache. Surely an angel will appear from somewhere to help me bring this beautiful Santa into my home! Erg. Ya, right.

Absolutely stunning Santa waiter, over three feet tall. How cute would he be to welcome guests into my home?
